About Victoria Trees
Identify and learn about the many diverse trees in the City of Victoria. Press the arrow icon to geolocate to your position and tap the tree to see information about the tree species. Add this to your home screen to get rid of the bottom bars and for easy access by pressing the Share icon below.
Victoria stands on the traditional territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples, the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. Where known, SENĆOŦEN tree names are provided, with a link to a website where you can hear the pronounciation. SENĆOŦEN is the language of the W̱SÁNEĆ People, and a member of the North Straits Salish dialect continuum along with lək̓ʷəŋən.
The tree information is from the City of Victoria's trees dataset. We have amended and added to the data where necessary. If your tree is missing, it's most likely because it's not on public property (the city isn't keeping track of it). Check out apps like iNaturalist or PictureThis to help with identification.
Built to complement James Clowater's website Trees of Victoria.
Descriptions are sourced from Wikipedia, and Indigenous uses for trees native to this area are primarily sourced from Nancy Turner's Ancient Pathways, Ancestral Knowledge.
